Tasks can be done by: Homeowner, Handyman
Task Steps
Step 1 – Hook Up Your Hoses to the Outside Spigots
- This is optional, but having available hoses already set up and ready to go during the summer is always helpful. Whether you like taking care of your lawn, gardening, filling up a pool, hosing off some muddy paws, or just want them set up for some impromptu summer activities.
- Take your hoses out of their storage location and screw them into your preferred water spigots.
- You can keep them neatly stored under the spigot or on a hose storage rack until you need to use them.

Step 2 – Turn on Outside Water Spigots
- If you live in a freeze zone, it’s vital to turn the water flow to your water spigots on for the summer and back off for the winter. Failure to do this can cause pipes to freeze, and most burst pipes within a home cause water damage.
- Most outside spigot(s) should have a designated shut-off valve on the inside of the building. That could be under a sink or located opposite the spigot in the basement or crawl space.
- You’re going to want to make sure that the water flow is open for all the outdoor water spigots you wish to utilize during the summer.
Hopefully this ultimate guide for setting up your hoses helps you during the warmer months!
